Online massage therapy classes are a way that you can begin a new career in massage therapy while learning from home.  Fortunately for many, today there are massage courses online that are available to anyone interested in pursuing a career as a certified massage therapist.

When you are looking around for careers that will suit you, you may find that one way to get involved and to figure out if it is something that you are really interested is to take online class.  You may be surprised, but the truth is that when you are looking at massage therapy classes, getting online can be a great way to get started.  Make sure that you consider what you might be getting out of these classes and what you are willing and interested to learn. Massage therapy is a growing industry and there is always a demand for well-trained massage therapists.  The advantages of becoming a certified massage therapist include having your own career where you can make your own hours and have a flexible schedule as well as being able to work full or part time. The first thing that you need to know when you are thinking about doing massage therapy that nothing is going to compare to getting into a classroom and getting the personal experience that you need.  You will find that if you are looking at this as possible career choice that you are going to need hands-on experience and a lot of it to get to where you are can be considered competent. Although there may be a video component to the class, you will find that nothing is going to prepare you for a career in massage therapy unless you can move forward and get the face to face contact that you need.

With that said, though, you will find that there are online massage therapy courses that are available, and that in some cases they can be counted towards getting you credit in towards certification.  For the most part, you are looking at a very basic course on massage history and development.  Far from being a hands-on course, this would be a course that was intended to make you conversant on the skill of massage and where it came from.  You may also find that you are looking at a course that may describe some of the basic tokes that come with it.  Most do require hands-on practice afterwards.

If you are not concerned about certification and you are only looking into some massage basics, you will find that there are some great general interest courses out there.  You will find that these courses are not intended treat any disease or to provide any sort of cure or diagnosis.  There is no certification behind them and they will not count towards a massage therapist license.  On the other hand, you will fin that this is a good place to start when you are just thinking about giving massages to the people around you.  This is something that can help you figure out where you want to go.
