Most states only require that you have your high school diploma or GED to attend massage therapy school. Most do not require an Associate’s degree to enroll in massage school because it is a trade school all its own. So that’s good news!
There are lots of great community colleges that have massage programs, and there are also numerous schools that teach only massage. The best site on the web for finding massage schools in your area is Massage Register, hands down! I gave you a link below to both the Texas and California massage therapy school pages.
I definitely believe that massage therapy school is worth it. A career in massage therapy can give you independence with flexible hours and scheduling, it makes great money if you love what you do and treat your clients well so they keep coming back, there are tons of jobs available nationwide – even with the economy it is growing faster than other occupations, you get to help people every day, and you usually go to school for less than two years before you can take the exams to get licensed. It’s an amazing career path, if you ask me!
Houston and Dallas are actually two of the most highly paid areas of Texas, and Napa and Santa Rosa-Petaluma in California are two of the areas with the highest concentration of massage therapists in the country, and Chico, California is the second highest paying metro area in the U.S. for massage therapists!!
So the first thing you need to do is find massage therapy schools and request more information from each of them, so you can get all your questions answered about which school is best for you. Check out the links below – I think you’ll be pleased!
I hope this helps – and good luck in your search!
