You cannot rush the healing process with ligaments or tendons below the knee because you will cause serious injury and long term intermittent lameness indefinitely.
The horse needs rest an time will tell, maybe a few weeks or maybe a few months to be sure. Its not worth the risk of straining such a complex joint.
cold hose regularly. keep a stable bandage on him. hand walk no turn out for 3-5 days. also apply a poultice to the area. that should do it. Keep hosing as often as you can for 10 min.
I take horse back riding lessons and I heard You have to let it rest also ask a vet for something to help it. Dont push this horse ether when your riding you dont want it to fall!
You probably won’t be able to use him in the "short term". Tears, pulls, and strains usually take a while to heal. If you want to keep him sound "long term", I’d borrow another horse until this one is totally healed. You might try getting him a joint supplement. What did you mean by "short term"? is that tomorrow, next week, three weeks, or sx weeks or more?
It will make a difference in the answer.
No quick fix, give him time to completely heal or you will be sorry in the long run. Maybe you can borrow borrow some ones horse.
Hand walk him and dont turn him out at all! Do NOT ride him either!

Well, the best thing you can do is ask your vet, because he/she knows the case the best and has lots of experience.
I would lay him up for a month or so, sometimes you have to sacrafice your short term goals for the wellbeing of your horse, if you had a really sore leg with a badly pulled, swollen muscle, you wouldn’t want to go for a run.

Soft tissue injuries are notorious for healing very slowly. This will take time. You may need your horse short term but he will be out for awhile. You cannot short circuit his recovery as you will do additional damage if you bring him back to soon.
If you’ve ever pulled a muscle or ligament you know how painful they can be and how long they take to heal…..same thing for your horse. You’ll have to allow him to heal up. Ask your vet to help you with a plan for your horse’s recovery and how to bring him along..he’ll give you a time frame you can work with.
