not at all
just make sure your 100% positive u really want to do this, and be confident in your technique, coz i read that over 1/2 drop out of it within the 1st yr. because for some reason or another they weren’t confident with their technique as a therapist. On the other hand there are a lot of ways to make money at it too….salons, day spa’s, your own business, and once you have clients, it’s a service that is always in need w/pretty good money!! SEARCH around for a VERY good school that is NOT over priced. I had considered doing this myself. there’s a massage school down the st. from me. but it’s 15000$ and someone told me it actually wasnt a good school. in kailua hawaii I visited last mo. and there school was only 5500$ and has an awesome rep.
) good luck 2u
I spoke to a professional massage thera.–2 of them during my trip in hawaii. one said that it’s pretty demanding on your body, and a lot of people quit after 2 two yrs. make a bunch of cash then find something else. but the other therapist i spoke to has been doing this for 15 yrs. mostly i’ve heard good things about it, from building up the clientale for yourself fairly easily (any biz takes time) and most people stick w/it. just make sure some school isn’t going to rip you off, esp. if ur unsure it u wanna go or not. but some schools may offer financial aid. mine didn’t. so decided on going to the school of aesthetics instead(cheaper, and quicker, better school)–but takes longer to get clients because of a slightly lower demand for it–altho it’s getting a lot more popular w/baby boomers, and men too.
If it’s your dream go for it!! can be very fulfilling, and rewarding financially and for your spirit since it’s healing others
I checked into massage therapy myself.
The cost in Florida is 10k for massage school and license.
Personally, I think it is too much $$$ for school.
You have to charge your clients $45 an hour if you want to make any money. Plus, you have to look at the competition in your area. The market is flooded with massage therapists in my state.
I would suggest be a physical therapist instead. At least you will know you will be making great money when you graduate. The demand is there.
