To start out i am 19 i live in northern Wisconsin, i am around 120lbs. one year ago this month i was putting up Christmas lights and developed a pain in my right knee. the pain is just above the left side of my right knee cap.
I have been to 2 chiropractors 2 orthopedic surgeons and 2 physical therapists. None of the treatments have helped and my condition is still unknown. I had an MRI done in December of 07 which showed nothing. my latest chiropractor says that the sacrum bone is not staying in place and causing the muscles on the inside of my right leg to pull, resulting in patella femoral syndrome ( miss alignment of the knee cap. Knee cap doesn’t track correctly).
physical therapy has been done to strengthen muscles to pull the knee camp over to the right.
Currently i am working on lateral release therapy to loosen the muscle from my sacrum to my knee. This is also not helping.

The pain is sometimes better on days with physical therapy but does not stay away, and will return if i sleep with my knee bent during the night. The only real relieve from the pain is the Kinesio tapping method. this lasts only as long as the tape will stay on with out having to re-tape. icy hot, bengay, microcurrent, muscle stim, all did not have lasting effects on me.

Since i have gotten no where with the local doctors in my town, I’m turning it over to you. If you have any ideas what this could be or anything that might help please don’t be shy. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Should I go to physical therapy?

So about 6 weeks ago I "sprained" my ankle while I was playing volleyball. I went to the doctor like 3 days after it happened, had x-rays and everything looked just sprained and I had a brace to wear for 2 weeks. After 5 weeks of it still being extremely swollen I was required to get an MRI. I just got the results back and apparently had 2 fractures, 3 torn ligaments, a partially torn tendon, a cracked bone, and a deep bone contusion(bruise). The doctor said I should have been in a cast for 2-3 months but that is beyond the point now. So basically now he wants me to start physical therapy and get kinesio taping done, but I am honestly really done with being injured, he said a last resort would be surgery. Do I need to go to physical therapy?

ok, here we go

i have pain in my left arm, and it is extremely bad

it feels like someone is stabbing my arm

i have a trigger point in the middle of my arm, located between the elbow and the head of the bicep, about 1 cm north of it towards my head

if you slightly touch it, i’ll jump becuz it hurts so much

i’ve had this since 5th grade, my arm started feeling really funny, then in 6th grade it started to hurt

in 7th grade it got really bad, so we started seeing doctors, but none of them could figure out what it was

i’m in 11th grade now, and the pain is terrible, it wakes me up at least once each night

the pain will come out of nowhere too, i’ll just be sitting on my couch, then all of a sudden, a wave of pain will rock my arm

the wave of pain lasts anywhere from 30 seconds, to 2 hours

when it hurts, i can’t do anything, it’s so bad, i just get in a fetal position and grab a hold of my arm to stop the pain

the trigger point is in the middle of my arm like i said before, but the wave of pain affects my bicep, elbow, tricep, shoulder somewhat, neck, and the top of my forearm

i’ve been to 30 doctors, at least, here is what my condition is NOT

x-rays showed negative, there’s nothing wrong with the bone

MRI’s showed nothing

i went thru physical therapy, nothing helped

it is not carpel tunnel syndrome, i saw a hand/wrist specialist

i went to a guy to give me stretches, didn’t work

i’ve had 2 shots of quartazone in the area, which numbed my hole arm for 2 hours, and didn’t feel any pain, but that ended after 2 hours

i have lidocaine patches, which are awesome, but they only prevent the pain for about 6 hours

they’ve put a magnet over the trigger point, but that did nothing

i’ve had acupuncture, some days worked, others made it worse

when my arm is hurting really bad, i take aleves, which seem to help

i also take advil

a neurologist saw my arm, had no clue

my last doc told me to live with it

here are some tendencies i find help start the pain:

when it’s really hot, and my left arm gets hot, the pain starts

after i play a lot of piano, the pain starts

when i play baseball or work out, the pain starts

however, when i sit in the same position for more than 10 minutes, the pain starts too

volleyball absolutely kills my arm

clapping hurts too, which makes me look weird at shows lol

when my arm gets cold, or i put cold water or biofreeze over the area, the pain is soothed

i have also used kinesio tape, which works pretty good, but doesn’t take it away completely

when i close my eyes, the pain feels like the color yellow, whih is weird, i put that in case that could be something or not lol

this is what i think it could be:

nerve damage, or something related to my neck, cuz when i cracked my neck on accident last week, the pain was worse for a good 5 days, then it calmed down to its original self

or myofascial pain syndrome

my family says it’s growing pains, but, the more i’ve grown, the worse it’s got, and it shows no sign of stopping

there are no visible scars, discolation, marks, or any other junk on the surface of my arm, it looks completely normal, and the funny thing is, my left arm isn’t even my dominant arm!

last year, i had a circumsision, and the doc gave me codine pills mixed with tylenol to deal with that post-surgery pain, my arm didnt hurt for 2 weeks, then after 2 weeks with the pills, my left arm got used to it, and started hurting again!

i have no clue what it is

thank you in advance, and i really appreciate your answers

unless you tell me to go to allhomeremedies.com and tell me to keep using yahoo answers :)

please help!!!!

What's wrong with my knee?

About three weeks ago I ran the 100m hurdles at a track meet after not having run them for three years and only practicing the day before. Since then my knee has been hurting, and our health insurance currently doesn’t cover physical therapy. Whenever I squat down or torque my knee in any way there’s a sharp pain that seems to surround the muscles of my knee cap. I’m a sprinter and it’s been giving me some issues during meets, but it usually goes away with adrenaline. Does anyone know what’s wrong or what I can do to help it? (I’ve been using kinesio tape but it usually just ends up coming off by the end of my workouts.)

i’m going for the first time tomorrow and i’m just wondering what exactly they do in physical therapy for a torn knee ligament.

I plan on enlisting and I want to know if i will be able to do something similar to what I am currently doing and also further my education in it?
and what about physical therapy or something dealing with the body???….I have all this knowledge about the body, muscles, joints, systems, and etc. I am not trying to let it go to waste

I need more information for a paper for school. Now my teacher asked can physical therapy be done by a massage therapist if the doctor is present? Anyone have the answer??

Thanks!

Has anyone tried kinesio taping?

My orthopedic surgeon suggested "kinesio taping" for my knee as part of my physical therapy. Has anyone tried it or used it? What does it entail? It looks kind of silly to me.

I am receiving physical therapy and deep tissue massage because of an injury to my neck and shoulders. Since I started I’ve been getting migraines after. I’m drinking lots of water as I was told.

Hi

I strained a back muscle near my right shoulder blade at work and because I have had it so long, the doctor signed me up for physical therapy. What are the chances of recovering from this injury if I follow the therapists instructions and do the exercises at home as well? I have went a long time not using the muscle to aid in healing and because of that, it is weak. It is not a severe strain but I am afraid I will be stuck dealing with it forever. Thanks
