what type of martial art is best for self-defense, relaxation and me?
I’m looking for something new to get into. A little info about me, I noticed that I’m always tense and I need to relax and be more calm I’m also 5’5 3/4 so I’m pretty short. Whats the best martial art to defend myself, even against someone much taller?

None, until you reach a certain level of proficiency. This has often been the culprit for many arts getting a bad rap. Somebody starts taking classes, thinks that they’re now a B.A., starts some crap & gets it beaten out of them. Whatever you take, learn it well and practice a lot before you expect it to work in the real world.
what ever the IDF learns. isreal defence force. i kno what they learn is some of best self defense.
Judo sounds like a good one for you since you are shorter. Judo is all about taking people off balance and that should be easy for you against taller people.
Krav Maga is excellent.
If your looking for something simple to train at home or with a buddy or two, I suggest looking into Jim Grover’s Combatives Series. Simple but brutally effective.

As far as relaxation goes one of the best things I have found is simple yoga. I know it doesn’t seem real manly but believe it or not a lot of MMA guys do it and it is growing in popularity all the time. It’s worth looking into…..very relaxing and calming along with deep breathing.
You can buy here as well as many other places online.

Based upon what you have described and based upon what methods are most readily available these days…. I’d say look for a good instructor in either Tai Chi Chuan or Jujitsu (Japanese or Brazilian).
These arts are about learning to relax, find your center, and applying energy dynamics of the aggressor against them.
They are also methods that teach principles that can be useful beyond fighting and the "dojo" setting.
Good luck.
Possibly Judo, but whichever one you pursue, remember. you can’t just take a few lessons and be an expert. It takes time and determination. A good start for you would be to check some some good websites that compare various styles. Good luck to you.
